Trade Secrets Directive - Text agreed in Trilogue adopted in European Parliament JURI committee. Journalists and Media associations acknowledge improvements to the original draft
On 28 January 2016, the European Parliament Legal Affairs committee adopted the agreement which was reached in Trilogue in December on the controversial draft Trade Secrets Directive. After intense debates, the final text improves the legal certainty as regards the exception for exercising the right to freedom of expression and information but journalists and media associations will remain vigilant.
In a joint press release on the provisional agreement in December ENPA, together with Reporters Without Borders (RWB), the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ), the European Magazine Media Association (EMMA) and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU - UER), took note of the generally positive amendments made to the initial draft Directive.
The new ENPA Newsletter will give regular updates about ENPA news, events and publications as well as policy issues affecting the newspaper and news media industry in Europe.
